“From my discussion with officers, I don’t think we have enough patrol as it is,” said City Council President Ben Stuckart. “I think the longer term answer is, we need somewhere between 30 and 50 more police officers, not shifting resources.”

Good Golly Miss Molly!!!

Council President Stuckart have you ever talked to an officer who hasn’t said they need more cops? You don’t even know where the patrol cops are assigned now let alone whether or not ANY are needed.

HILARIOUS SPOKANE STUFF!!!

Ozzie at it again!

Another confrontational media played battle between Sheriff Knezovich and folks that don’t think much of him????

http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2016/sep/18/ozzie-knezovich-blasts-matt-shea-podcast-that-link/

Of course this kind of issue brings out the usual left and right wingers who try and prove their agenda is best using the old, Cut, Paste, and Link method of proof while they miss the entire point.

http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2016/sep/18/ozzie-knezovich-blasts-matt-shea-podcast-that-link/comments/

Look Ozzie, you are an elected public official, as such, like it or not, you WILL take heat whether it is for something your Deputies do or you do. After all these years one would think you would have grown up and learned that.

This of course will be another story Ozzie won’t like, and as they say in the business…” Tough Stuff!” … actually “Stuff” isn’t a direct quote.

https://examplepro.me/2016/07/12/ozzie-isnt-happy-with-my-holyk-story/

(The link below mentions just a few of the confrontations Ozzie has had with folks)

https://examplepro.me/2016/07/01/the-ryan-holyk-casewhy-cant-they-learn/

Let me preface this by saying I don’t know Scott Maclay, although I have spoken with him a couple of times on the phone regarding the Ryan Holyk case, which it appears he was right about… much to the dismay of the Sheriff.

I don’t really know the Sheriff, we have met once face to face regarding “Smart Justice” and spoken on the phone a couple of times.

I don’t know any of the other players including Matt Shea, whom I hardly ever agree with.

I don’t know Deputy Travis Pendell personally, but know of him, and always kind of wondered whether or not Sherriff Knezovich approved Pendell’s presentation to Jeff Ware’s (Orphan in the SR Comments Section) “Northwest Coalition of Patriots”. At least from my perspective Pendell’s remarks were kind of interesting.

jeff-ware-party

Another thing I know is that Deputy Pendell is involved with Ben Sorensen in the business SORENDELL, LLC. I don’t know at this point whether or not Ben Sorensen is related to Mathew Sorenson of YELLOW DOG, LLC, and I just mention it to make a point I’ll address later in this story.

SORENDELL, LLC, does own some rental property here in Spokane, other than that, I’m not sure what they do or what else they might be involved in.

With all due respect to reporter Pia Hallenberg, as she probably wouldn’t have known, but this is really weird!

“They met when Murry was a Sheriff’s Office volunteer for one month in the spring of 2010. Murry later gave some weapons to Pendell because a court order prevented him from owning firearms.”

The follow up Pia would be; “What the hell did Pendell do with those weapons, what were they, and where are they now? They should have been immediately booked into property as safe keeping. Maybe a follow-up with Ozzie Pia?

This is an interesting statement from Ozzie:

Knezovich called Maclay’s statement “a blatant lie” and said the weapon used to kill Terry Canfield, Lisa Canfield and John Constable has not been found. The bodies were recovered from a house that was set on fire right after the killings.

“Pendell never had a federal firearms license,” Knezovich said. “He is not under federal investigation.”

It is true, however, that Murry and Pendell knew each other.

Will someone please tell Ozzie that when you get into public urinating matches like this one, the more you say the more you bury yourself. Come on Ozzie we both know It doesn’t matter if Pendell had a federal firearms license or not, so even if Maclay was wrong the point is the more you yap the bigger you make it.

Now Ozzie, after you read this story, go ahead and report back that I was bad mouthing the SO to whomever, but if you want to dispute anything in this story or take a shot at me again do it by email so I have another record.

I REPORT HSS YOU DECIDE!!!

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!

From two to four?

http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2016/sep/16/spokane-releases-new-batch-of-finalists-for-police/

The only thing new is the addition of Meidl and Baker from the last go around. The game is still the same… in the end the City Council will have to confirm whomever Condon might choose to lead the Spokane Police Department, and they will, regardless of whether or not Condon picks Meidl who is not qualified based upon the original criterion which was completely ignored in round two. He is also far less qualified than the other three candidates but that won’t matter to Mayor Condon. Once Condon has made HIS selection, if it is Meidl, you will hear and read this from the City Council;

“We need to move on regardless of the past and put everything behind us.”

Which is one of the big problems we have in Spokane. The people we place in leadership roles never learn from the past.

It isn’t like it was any big secret what would happen one of my former bosses makes it very plain here:

https://examplepro.me/2016/09/06/craig-meidls-critical-analysis-of-a-well-known-and-often-cited-article/

Sources close to the selection process, while it was going on, told me that Meidl had the votes and would be a finalist, so it certainly was no surprise to me.

The big question is; “Do the Politicians and Bureaucrats who ultimately run the SPD really want a culture change, or is it all political lip service?”

https://examplepro.me/2016/08/23/so-what-does-the-meidl-agreement-mean/

__________________________

Councilman Breean Beggs, who was a member of the selection committee, hopes Condon gives each candidate a fair chance, but he said “there is no mandate for the mayor to have an open mind.”

_________________________

Well of course there isn’t a “mandate” Breean, everyone knows that Condon can pick whomever he wants including Meidl. The mandate will be before the City Council to decide what is best for SPD, and subsequently the Community.

_________________________

“We need to move on regardless of the past and put everything behind us.”

_________________________

___________________________

“The question wasn’t whether Craig Meidl or any other individual was qualified, the question was, when you compare all the remaining people in the pool, who is the most qualified to provide the leadership we need now,” Beggs said.

___________________________

Of course that is the question Breean, but as you point out, as far as the Mayor is concerned, “there is no mandate for the mayor to have an open mind.”

THE FRONT RUNNER ASIDE FROM MEIDL…IS?

Robert Lehner

That is quite evident from media and other sources.

Lehner has some baggage, but they all do to a certain extent:

https://examplepro.me/2016/07/15/here-we-go-again/

None of the candidates however have the amount of baggage Frank Straub had when Condon picked him. The baggage, as far as Straub was concerned, would have taken a platoon of Red Caps to carry.

The new guy John Bruce doesn’t have much baggage but his experience is limited to smaller Police Departments in Texas (Frisco and Allen).

As many know there is quite a bit of communication between a group of us retired SPD folks that have a real concern about cleaning up our old joint (well over 100 years of combined experience), so I wanted to throw this in from one of my other old Bosses because it really describes exactly what we are dealing with here (*my emphasis).

__________________________

He hit the nail on the head that is exactly what they are a “fungible commodity”!

It was really easy for us old retired cops to determine of the four candidates who has the most political savvy simply by going back and reviewing the various public statements they have made, including Meidl. Without question the most politically savvy candidate is Robert Lehner so let me translate the statements made by in the SR story for my readers.

____________________________

Lehner, of the Elk Grove Police Department, said the added complexity of the situation has made him more interested in the job.

____________________________

Here you simply exchange “added complexity” with FUMess. Of course he is more interested in the job because his political savvy, and read of the FUMess, as well as the Mayor’s other messes tells him that if he is chosen by Condon as new Chief of Police he will have the political and go to the media advantage to do pretty much what he wants with little interference from Condon. The other external candidates of course know the same thing, but may not have the savvy on how to play it. Meidl of course has a well-documented track record of doing exactly what he is told to do by the Mayor and the Mayor’s cronies, and he will continue in that vein if he is chosen.

___________________________

“Spokane went from being one of the more challenging police chiefing jobs in the country to being possibly the most challenging police chiefing job in the country,” he said, adding “it’s that challenge that really does interest me.”

___________________________

Basically what Lehner is saying, along with the I want the job rhetoric, is that Spokane is a far more challenging place to be a Chief of Police than places like Chicago, Baltimore, LA, etcetera. But his comment does demonstrate his political and media savvy which boils down to saying and doing the right thing at the right time to accomplish the agenda. Obviously there is nothing wrong with that it is all part of the game, another part of the game is to always be accessible to the media when job hunting for a position like this.

___________________________

If Meidl is selected, Lehner said he wouldn’t see that as a “stacked process.”

___________________________

Of course he said that! When you are a “fungible commodity” you never put down or dis any of the various processes you have been through… how would that look for the next one if there is one?

 THE CONDON DILEMMA!

Do I go with the pliable Meidl and completely ruin what little credibility I had and who I can count on to cover my butt, or do I go with a “Fungible Commodity” who I may not be able to control?

One other thing to keep in mind, and something I pointed out to someone not long ago, when you consider a retirement income, plus 170-180 Grand a year the SPD Chief of Police job becomes pretty darn attractive, not only to the candidate, but also the spouse!

*** TEST QUESTION:

What was this press conference all about? The reporter should know!

HOW TO RUIN POLITICAL ASPIRATIONS!!!!

Since there isn’t a lot going on in the criminal justice, local government world other than former Interim SPD Chief Rick Dobrow removing himself from the Chief of Police selection process (I wish a few more would take the high road), I’m going to throw in this story.

Whether a Liberal or Conservative the quickest way to ruin political aspirations or any hope of a political career is not to follow the first rule of politics, “Never, ever associate yourself with individuals who are documented frauds and liars, as eventually they will be exposed and it will only hurt you.”

If a documented fraud and liar tries to attach him or herself to your bandwagon the first step is to as quickly as possible try and remove yourself from any and all association, and especially never allow them to act as surrogates in any way, no matter how many emails they send you on a daily basis all of which are public records.

The Spokesman Review continues to allow Sled to push his extreme agenda in their comments section, as well as harass and belittle anyone who disagrees with him. There is so much evidence of that that posting the screenshots would take at least a week. One of Sled’s buddies Mike McGarr a late night copy editor and thread moderator over and over again demonstrates his favoritism towards Sled. McGarr’s own numerous comments while moderating the SR threads, including comments on the abortion issue, he usually deletes prior to ending his shift. Some however he doesn’t.

Here is one recent example of many where McGarr backs his buddy “Our Man Sled” to “Falstaff1” who had Andy picked for what Andy really is years ago.

You might note Andy’s statement “Nope. Not even a flag.” which is in reference to Andy’s practice of flagging a comment he doesn’t like several times using his various personas so that the comment goes into “Moderation” so the moderators can delete it.

The SR moderators allow “Our Man Sled” to get away with almost anything compared to some of the Conservative commenters as Sled over and over licks their boots and strokes them in his own comments.

Here is a recent example with Sleds old nemesis David Bray. You might notice Sled also tries to out a commenter he believes is “Justice”.

Any would be politician after considerable contact and stroking by Andy would think, the guy is a pain in the ass… but it is a vote. Well an easy check shows that isn’t necessarily true.

Yes, Andy “Facts are stubborn things.”, and that is exactly what you get right here, facts, evidence, and documentation…as you well know, all of which as hard as you try you are unable to dispute.

“Our Man Sled” continues his blowing up on the SR Comments Section with comment after comment defending his favorite causes and candidates including Pakootas. Most recently “Our Man Sled” has taken up the cause of defending City Council President Ben Stuckart from considerable criticism on a number of issues from the Conservative Commenters. As far as I’m concerned there is nothing wrong with that political discourse back and forth, it gets really nutsy sometimes, but that is the way it generally is. Sled of course will always make ad hominem attacks on commenters who have an opposing view, but that is his standard practice, especially when someone points out how wrong or dishonest his comment is.

This does however create a serious problem for would be politicians as well as others who have been fooled, they sure as hell want the people defending them or supporting their own agenda to be honest and creditable, something Andy has time and again been proven not to be. It creates a serious dilemma for them, because they are politicians or have a strong ideology they have to figure out how to smoothly distance themselves from people like Andy as they know that if they don’t do it smoothly Andy will turn on them like a caged rat, and start spreading his typical made up negative stories.

The moral of this story is, be real careful of who you hitch your wagon to, or who hitches their wagon to yours.
