I doubt Ozzie will like this story either!

As a follow-up to the story linked below, I thought it might be important that this inept, corrupt, liar point out one of the difficulties in establishing the true staffing levels of a law enforcement agency something most elected officials don’t bother with when it comes budget analysis.

As I pointed out in my “Ozzie Won’t Like This Either” story the data he submitted to WASPC is in direct conflict with his claim “that the sheriff’s office has never recovered from losing 30 deputies due to budget cuts seven years ago”.

I know from past experience that getting true data from law enforcement agencies is sometimes like pulling teeth and one of the many difficult aspects is trying to figure out where pass-through or outside “fiscal agents” are for Grant Funded Positions. Here is an example of just one pass-through where the fiscal agent is SPD and Ozzie has been using the money to fund one Deputy for two years and currently at a cost of $192,915.93 or $207,953.93, depending upon which figure is correct in the submittal. I’m not quite sure what the $15,038.00 discrepancy is all about.

This is one of those nice Grants because it isn’t funded directly from taxpayer dollars, rather from traffic violator dollars.

Of course, at this point the public doesn’t exactly how many positions are taxpayer Grant Funded in the SCSO, and perhaps the County Commissioners took that into consideration when they decided not to further burden the taxpayer with higher property taxes.

During my inept, and corrupt tenure on SPD a couple of Police Chiefs assigned me the task of dealing with Grant Funded expenditures and how those were handled properly from the standpoint of being audited, so I know the care that must be taken by law enforcement administrators to make sure the taxpayer money is properly spent and will pass an audit.

The problem with Grant Funded Positions is that you never know how long they will last, and if the funding runs out the County or City is in a dilemma.

If you look at the data concerning Vehicle Theft in Spokane County the last few years it looks like this Grant might be helping out to a certain extent, of course the City of the Valley gets hit the hardest, so I would imagine the WAPTA funded position has a heavy SVPD load.

By no means am I a Matt Shea fan, but when you know Ozzie’s background of attacking anyone who brings out the truth it has to make you wonder…and wonder…and wonder….

I knew Ozzie would not like my most recent story, he doesn’t like any stories that tell the truth regardless of the media, so I’m not alone. But this email exchange pretty much tells “The Story of Ozzie” when the truth conflicts with what he says. I know it is hard for Ozzie when someone isn’t the least bit afraid of, or intimidated by him… you have to feel for the guy a little bit, it seems he has problems.

After reading the below linked Inlander story and recalling the fit Ozzie had with me calling attention to the “Bunk” data he gave to ICMA when they did the study about the City of Spokane Valley getting their own Police Force, I started thinking it might be a good idea to check some facts reported in the story.

Needless to say, the Oz is all upset that the County Commission won’t approve a property tax and give him some more money, so he has started the good old… “Stuff will hit the fan all over the County because I don’t have enough money or men!”

So, I guess the question is, do we need to increase the tax burden or can Ozzie actually do the job he was elected to do with the budget he is given? I would love to have more Deputies if we can afford them, and if the SCSO is staffed properly so there isn’t a bunch of waste. Another question, I’m sure the Valley Council has is whether or not Ozzie will fulfill his contract with them, which has been a sticking point with some folks in the Valley.

I do have some problems with what Ozzie told the Inlander, and other places but I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.

But when Ozzie was running for CMR’s position he touted low crime rates at a 220-commissioned staffing level, and that would have been with 17 less rabbits?

I gotta wonder if Ozzie has plans on running for some other elected position now that CMR still has her job, he did move into the City remember. 🙂

Can’t find where the SCSO lost “30 deputies” seven years ago?

In 2010 the SCSO/SVPD had a joint commissioned staffing level of 237 deputies. The following year in 2011 the level was 221, or down 17 deputies. Starting in 2014 commissioned staff went to 220 where it stayed through 2016. So, I’m at a complete loss where the figure “30 deputies” comes from.

 

“My budget has been cut every year. They’ve underfunded the sheriff’s office every year since 2012,” he says. “I’ve had to go to war with the budget office to say, ‘We’re underfunded. Unless you want me to lay deputies off, you have to fix this issue.'”

 

Well at least Ozzie’s been able to support a commissioned staffing level close to 220 since 2012.
