A LITTLE MORE ON SAD BUT TRUE!

I have submitted a Public Records Request to the City in an effort to determine why Lynden Smithson was placed on paid administrative leave by Nancy Isserlis, so hopefully we will find out at some point.

Another email I found interesting in the PRR Doc Dump was this email from Lt. Mark Griffiths, to a number of people including Nancy Isserlis dealing with the important issue of “Human Trafficking” and the approach his Unit was taking.

GETTING TO KNOW THE PLAYERS!

The link below will help you to get to know some of the players associated with this entire affair (no pun intended), including Lt. Griffiths, Lynden Smithson, and even Regina Malveaux a Howard University Grad and close friend of Rachel Dolezal, who defended Dolezal throughout that little episode of the Condon Docudrama.

What the above press conference tells us, among other things, is that Nancy Isserlis did allow Lynden Smithson to return to work from paid administrative leave to prosecute cases in with the Spokane Regional Domestic Violence Team. My PRR does request all documents concerning his return to work as well.

HERE IT COMES!!!!

Well at some point you knew it was coming… “We need MORE MONEY!”. It was just a matter of WHEN.

Keep in mind this program has never been evaluated and we don’t know if it is another one of the Straub programs that feels good, and sounds good but may not be a good use of staffing…we just don’t know.

Before the City and SPD start handing out any more money for Condon’s and Straub’s failed programs, this needs to be done and done properly.

COPS/DOJ

Recommendation 10.5

SPD should conduct a staffing analysis to determine if the department is meeting its operational needs and has an adequate amount of staff to ensure its continued mission, objectives, and community policing principles.

SPD should conduct a staffing analysis. This analysis should follow the workload-based model. This model will allow SPD to examine the “levels of demand for police services and matches that demand with the supply for police resources.”143 In addition to examining calls for service received, this model also examines other “operational demands facing the department”144 (e.g., police activities league [PAL], community meetings, training) and makes staffing determinations based on these findings

SAD BUT TRUE!

As I have mentioned in previous stories when you do a PRR inevitably other issues arise that really make one wonder exactly what the real stories are. In the most recent PRR Document Dump I received along with all the other media I have found many interesting things, and this is just one that the public should know about.

The following are copies of email strings between Nancy Isserlis and Lt. Mark Griffiths that seem odd to me. But you should draw your own conclusions as to whether further follow-up is needed.

On 3/19/2015 at 10:02 AM Lt. Mark Griffiths of the SPD Special Victims Unit sent this email to a number of individuals including members of the East Spokane Business Association.

On 3/19/15 at 10:04 AM; Isserlis responds to Griffith’s email stating “Excellent. Hopefully I don’t know any of the three”

At 10:14 AM Griffiths responds; “You never know. It’s a small town.”

At 10:20 AM Isserlis responds; “I knew several on the list from the massage parlors in Airway Heights….”

Insert 4

The following morning Isserlis emails Griffiths and Frank Straub stating this; “This morning, I put Lynden Smithson, assistant City prosecutor, on paid administrative leave. his cases will be reassigned until further notice.”

UPDATE!!

We shall see what happens.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN SOMEONE TAKES ON SPOKANE’S ELITE AND THEIR MINIONS?

You end up in what Addy Hatch refers to as an “infantile pissing match”. It reminds me of when I was a kid on the playground and when the rich kid was losing he took the ball he owned and stormed off.

Here is todays example of just that. Hell not even Jack Webb is allowed to write the truth because it is embarrassing to the SR. 🙂

ANOTHER HILARIOUS REPORT IN TODAYS SR!

What is so hilarious about the AP story above you might ask…well read on.

What people often don’t understand about the media is that when they are criticized, or their ethics is questioned, they circle the wagons and in many cases far beyond the way cops circle the wagons.

The media has a powerful public obligation; some use it ethically some not. There are a number of ways for an owner to wield that power. they can have their minions go after someone completely unfairly, or if they really like someone, even to the point of backing them heavily financially…they can just kind of let the truth NOT BE TOLD.

ANOTHER ETHICS COMPLAINT…WHAT ARE THE FACTS…AND WHY IS THE SR NOT REPORTING THEM?

Yesterday the Spokesman Review ran this story written by Nick Deshais regarding the most recent ethics complaint against Mayor David Condon. My question is why is the SR leaving important FACTS in their stories regarding Condon?

http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2015/dec/22/fourth-ethics-complaint-filed-in-spokane-sexual-ha/

One has to ask why Deshais once he received this quote from the complainant Sherry Jones didn’t follow-up with facts he knows to be true.

_________________________________

“The message went out to all departments at City Hall: The mayor doesn’t take accusations of sexual harassment or assault seriously,” Jones said. “He’s blaming Monique Cotton for his lack of due diligence in following city policy. That’s another example of victim blaming. We want him to take responsibility.”

_________________________________

Jones’s statement simply begged for inclusion of other facts known to the SR…like for example details surrounding the transfer of Carly Cortright under exactly the same circumstances as Cotton two years prior. Some new details surrounding the Cortright transfer were reported in the Inlander prior to the Deshais story yet he chose not to use some of those details in his story even though Jones expresses her concern about how seriously Condon takes sexual harassment. The SR and the PNW Inlander frequently use quotes and details from each other’s stories so why not this time (“penis-measuring contests”, “referring to a person who performs fellatio”)

Inlander:

That Straub allegedly referred to former police department executive Carly Cortright using the c-word in front of male officers, according to police Capt. Brad Arleth and Lt. Joe Walker.

In executive staff meetings, Straub would reference penis-measuring contests when challenged. Then he’d flop his forearm onto the table, Arleth and Cortright say.

In August of 2013, Straub threatened to demote Arleth and fire Cortright after they exchanged a knowing glance and raised eyebrows during another executive meeting. If they didn’t believe him, call back to Indianapolis, Arleth and Cortright recall Straub saying. Straub then used a vulgarity, referring to a person who performs fellatio, to emphasize how difficult he could be, the two say.

Cortright, who had worked for the police department for more than a decade before she moved to a new job in City Hall two years ago, constantly butted heads with Straub over budgetary issues. For her, the culture created under his leadership punished honesty.

Some of the other questions that arise from the SR Reporting are FACTS known to Deshais that should have been investigated far more diligently and reported when Condon made the claim that Cotton was transferred to the Park Department because of her expertize. Those FACTS are that Condon tried to move Cotton to the Fire Department first. Deshais does mention in yesterday’s story that the SR learned in August of the attempt to transfer Cotton to Fire.

______________________________________

“After Cotton brought her concerns to Condon and City Administrator Theresa Sanders, there were discussions to move her to the fire department, but fire officials rebuffed the effort. Instead, they told the city administration that they “would prefer to do recruitment for someone that was better suited for fire,” as Assistant Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer told The Spokesman-Review in August.”

Deshais also mentioned the attempted Fire Department transfer here back on September 23rd prior to the election, but with NO known investigative follow-up.

Another big question is WHY the SR refuses to use FACTS that were offered to them well prior to the election and provide great insight as to what Monique Cotton’s state of mind might have been when all of this was going on?

MORE BACKGROUND HERE!

https://examplepro.me/2015/10/19/lets-start-with-the-cottonnapolitano/

With all of the ethics complaints and the “Independent Investigation” will we ever know the FACTS? It is hard to say at this point. Some of things we don’t know is exactly when the alleged ass grabbing and attempt to kiss took place, exactly what Condon’s interaction was with Sanders on handling the complaint, what was Sanders interaction with Lowe, Isserlis, Condon and on and on. Some of us in the media are giving it our best shot to try and inform our readers…others not so much.

Here is another episode in my continuing PRR War with the City. The key here is whether or not I will actually get affidavits from the various players in the Cotton/Straub case which the Washington State Supreme Court details in their recent decision of the Nissen v Pierce County case. I haven’t heard from Terri Pfister yet, and I understand that this move on my part is causing quite a furor down at City Hall.

It is too bad that the small group far left and far right commenters on the SR website don’t have a clue as to the facts yet they offer an ill-informed prosecution on one side and an ill-informed defense on the other.
