It shouldn’t be the way it happens, but it is! Investigative Journalism requires the reporter to have and maintain strong and reliable sources throughout the Community, I’m fortunate that I have gained the trust of many and have been able to expose hidden conduct in a number of areas, including SPD, SCSO, and the Spokane County Prosecutors Office. Exposing inappropriate conduct isn’t without coast as recent events demonstrate.

Protecting my sources, is something very, very important to me and like a few other Journalists I am willing to go to jail to protect them, and my sources know I will protect them at all costs to myself.

As most people know, corroborating information I receive is critical something I go out of my way to do before I write a story and most times I do it via the Public Records Act and a Public Records Request. The PRA and the ability of to oversee government conduct is the right of every Citizen or Journalist and as my followers know I use that legal right often.

I have received considerable information lately regarding the low morale at SPD and Internal Investigations involving allegations of Brady v Maryland issues reported by officers against other officers which included notification to the Spokane County Prosecutors Office as usual and as a part of the investigative process I have submitted Public Records Requests, I’m sure to the complete dismay of SPD brass.

Yesterday, I received just one public records response corroborating information I received about a battle going on between SPD Officers and Units within SPD as some battles between SPD Brass. The City Council, nor the Public Safety Committee are of course in the dark about what is going on, and if history proves are unlikely to really want to know.

At this point, without getting into a lot of detail I am going to provide my readers with some very telling evaluations made by SPD Officers during a training session this spring. Keep in mind that these records are not ordinarily made public, and in many cases, SPD doesn’t want the Public to see them.

I am providing a link to the entire response I received so that you can make your own judgement about what they show. Please note that the lowest rated class was the “Admin Talk” training section. That section involved SPD Chief Craig Meidl or his designee informing the Troops supposedly on a number of things going on in the Department.

Keeping in mind that I am privy to a lot more information than the General Public regarding what is going on I am going to highlight some of the Evaluation written comments and make some comments of my own the details of which will come to light later.

Yes, folks there is some rift among the Troops and SPD Administration regarding the Major Kevin King issue.

And that confusion could explain all the reprimands for not turning Body Worn Cameras on when they are supposed to be.

Many agree that the taxpayer funded new Computer Aided Dispatch and Records Management System provided by the vendor ‘New World Systems, isn’t the “game-changer” it was sold as being, but of course that is something, and even though they agreed to pay for it via a vote, the Public should be kept in the dark about…right??

One of the primary reasons I do what I do is to expose the lack of ethics and misconduct that takes place every day in government, whether by a Republican, Democrat, or anyone else. When I do an investigation that includes public records many times I run across something which demonstrates an extreme bias, misconduct, and or a complete lack of ethics on the part of those who are supposed to serve the PUBLIC in an unbiased way. Given the amount of taxpayer time and resources Bob West spent electioneer for his daughter which included time spent researching the vaccination issue I felt it important to write this story to give my readers a peek at what goes on behind the scenes.

The City of Spokane’s internal investigation of Mr. West never would have happened had it not been for the fact that I followed up on a tip provided by sources, none of whom were Mr. Collier or members of the Collier family. The truth is Mr. West would likely still be employed by the City of Spokane had not evidence I obtained been brought forward.

Despite the fact that it may be an irritant to some I feel I should provide some context to this email which I posted yesterday on my Facebook Page.

The above email gives the appearance that in his capacity as SCRHD Officer Dr. Lutz actually reached out to the Brandi West campaign, which is something the Spokane County Regional Health District Board should look into. The email speaks for itself.

With respect to Spokane County Regional Health District Officer Dr. Robert Lutz, it is important to note he was hired for the position in June of 2017, and his email is dated October 9^th, 2017 after he was hired for the position.

In my view any reasonable person would conclude that Dr. Lutz’s email represents a bias and may represent a bias on the part of Charles (Chuck) Hafner the former Spokane Valley Council member who resigned that position apparently because of ideological differences.

 “Soon we will have a City Council that’s all tea party, extreme-right people,” Hafner said.

Mr. Hafner was originally selected to fill Position #2 on the Spokane Regional Health District Board in 2016 by then County Commissioner Shelley O’Quinn, he subsequently sought and was granted reappointment in July of 2017 around the same time Dr. Lutz was hired at the Spokane Regional Health District Officer.

I would like to do some more investigation on this issue however putting together documents to defend Prosecutor Larry Haskell’s Temporary Restraining Order against me as well as other investigations involving SPD are consuming a lot of my time, so I will have to, at least at this point, let some of the individuals directly affected by this issue carry the ball.

Besides preparing to defend Ozzie’s TRO I have to meticulously go through a big load of Public Records I at long last received concerning the investigation and termination of his good buddy and surrogate Bob West. Opening just one of the extensive files gives me, and should give you, some idea of the task ahead, and I haven’t come close to getting to the juicy parts yet.

Today at 7:57 AM I answered my doorbell where I was met by a nice young Deputy Sheriff who served me with what I’ve been waiting for, a Temporary Restraining Order to recover the CD the SCSO “mistakenly” provided me.

Interestingly there were a hundred or so pages of documents attached to the TRO including copies of some of my stories, all of which are now a part of the Superior Court Record for anyone to see for themselves.

Another real interesting aspect of the TRO is letter from the Spokane County Prosecutors Office was from Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Steven J. Kinn who apparently was involved in the false arrest of “The Dumpster”, and even somehow involved with Ozzie’s efforts to have witness tampering charges brought against “The Dumpster”.

Or perhaps this whole TRO is an effort to intimidate me into not following through with my efforts, here…who knows.

I can’t help but wonder if the County and Ozzie are concerned that the un-redacted CD in question demonstrates that Ozzie and Spokane County attempted to hide documents responsive to my PRR.

 

I guess we will let the lawyers figure that one out, as well as if a government agency inadvertently or not provides the media with information the public has a right to know if the media should be subjected to this type of litigation.
