I feel it is important to give Council Member Breean Beggs credit for doing all the hard work on the new Ordinance, I like the final product, and it sets in place some long needed controls. Some of the expenditures from the Golden Goose Fund have been outrageous over the years. I can tell you for certain despite what Chief Meidl might say publicly, SPD isn’t happy with someone else telling them how and when they can spend their windfall. One thing to take note of is that the State of Washington gets a cut of all Asset Seizure monies right off the top.

Breean Beggs has had an interest in this issue prior to taking office and reached out to people that would know the ins and outs. Aside from Breean Beggs, you must admire folks like SPD Lt. Joe Walker, and Carly Cortright who tried to expose what was going on with the Golden Goose Fund, and had to suffer the consequences, some of the same stuff going on right now at SPD. Nothing has changed since Frank Straub got the boot, things have gotten worse, but Begg’s Ordinance is one step in righting the ship. Begg’s is also working on a new OPO Ordinance, which may or may not fly depending upon the Union Negotiations who are now in complete control of the OPO and OPOC because of the previous contract pushed by Mayor Condon, and Frank Straub.

I also think it is important to remember that Probationary Officer Tim Schwering was originally hired to INCREASE SPD’s capabilities to seize more assets.

This Episode may be interesting for folks following the Holyk case including the Holyk Family lawyer who will likely compare Ozzie’s very Public Statements in this video with his Deposition in the civil case, there is more in other Episodes regarding Holyk, so stay tuned.

We learn some interesting things from Ozzie here regarding his perspective on why the Scott Creach cases was settled, his deposition testimony in Creach during which he stated that former Deputy Brian Hirzel (One of the 63 he has fired) wasn’t trained to use the Baton the way Hirzel claimed he did during several interviews after Hirzel returned from his vacation.

We talk about using Grant Fredericks as an expert in the Holyk case, and when Ozzie knew he was being used, this was kind of funny to me, in that Ozzie maintains I lied in my story that using Grant Fredericks reflected on his leadership as well as SPD Leadership.

If you watch Ozzie’s answers to my questions, you might notice there seems be some confusion about whether he found out about the use of Grant Fredericks. Remember at the end of Episode 2 he said Frank Straub told him.

Did Ozzie know about Fredericks before or after the Criminal Investigation was completed? When Ozzie found out that SPD screwed up using Fredericks, could he have showed some leadership and stood up for Bodman saying that using Fredericks was BS?

Notice on the video when Ozzie talks about his discussion with SPD Officer Carr who was the SRIRT Investigator in the Holyk case.

Ozzie claims I lied about Ryals asking about the hat in my story, Ozzie says it wasn’t Ryals who asked about the hat, it was a gal that was present who asked about the hat. So, did Ozzie catch me in an outright blatant lie about who asked the hat question? In Ozzie’s world, he did, as for me even if I was wrong about who asked the question, I’m not sure what Ozzie’s big concern is. I certainly apologize if Ryals didn’t ask about the hat, which I would bet he found out about from the Plaintive, but if people want to draw the conclusion that was a lie…then so be it… I’m still not going to eat Crow at this point.

Next comes some of the discussion a few retired Deputies have been waiting for. You can draw your own conclusions on whether Ozzie’s intent was to get some info public on a few of his detractors. It is kind of interesting the reaction Ozzie had when I told him he was violating the law in telling me about unfounded or un-sustained IA Cases. It is kind of hard to tell if Ozzie had a twofold purpose, prove me to be a liar, or get all the dirt he could out there regarding some folks who might not be on his side in his upcoming election. I’m sure the “Integrity First” folks won’t be too happy, and surely retired Deputy Brady won’t be pleased that Ozzie made public that Brady was investigated for having an affair with another staff, a case which Ozzie says he couldn’t prove. BTW I haven’t talked to any of the Integrity First Folks in years…but I will if they want to talk to me.

Was Officer Christopher McMurtrey disciplined for IA Case C 16-004 by having to work desk duty for a year like Chief Craig Meidl would like to have the public believe, or is it the truth that McMurtrey was off on sick leave for most that time?

 

I would like to get to the truth, but unfortunately Craig Meidl and Justin Lundgren are afraid to go through another interview with me, so hopefully the MSM will do a good job of getting to the truth.

 

My readers will likely be real interested in Christopher McMurtrey’s “GoFundMe” Page created by Jenna Fairbanks on March 13^th, 2016 after the Investigation of IA Case C 16-004 was “Suspended” and had a goal of $35,000.00.

Meidl and Lundgren would of course have known that McMurtrey would be on extended sick leave right after the suspension of the IA Case… and of course even contributed to help McMurtrey get his back fixed.

 

It isn’t out of the ordinary for Meidl to contribute to Cops in need of some help, you might remember beyond Saluting Karl Thompson he admitted donating some money for Karl Thompson’s cause.

 

It would be nice to know what the truth is, but getting to the truth around here takes some work!

I’m not going to go through all the cool stuff, but notice at 0:01:27 of the footage, when I’m trying to establish from Ozzie what I already knew.

Me: “Is that why you cut property crimes staffing in the Valley?”

Ozzie: “It’s never been cut!”

Me: “Are you short two in the Valley?”

Ozzie: “What?”

Me: “Are you short two property crimes Detectives in the Valley?”

Ooops….

Ozzie: “Not since March.”

 

At 0:11:42 Ozzie dismisses the two retired Crime Data Experts Silver and VanLeuven he had brought in to back his play. “Gents if you want to go you can.” I bet they are glad Ozzie dismissed them.

We learn some more about Ozzie’s new business, and that he is going to teach Leadership, at least at some point in time. A bit of discrepancy on when his new LLC was formed, it was filed with the Secretary of State on 8/8/2016, and Ozzie chose to have the Effective Date, the same as the date he filed with the Secretary of State…no big deal though, if he and his wife were getting along.

There is some AML (Administrative Memory Loss) in this Episode, but in later Episodes you will see that the memory returns.

There is some stuff about Phil Tyler in this episode, and Ozzie’s perception of the meeting he refers to after the complaint about Tyler’s leadership from Corrections Staff is a bit in conflict with others who were present.

Again, notice that Ozzie makes a point that this video was intended to be Public.
