While this process is going on the City Council and the Mayor have a former SPD Chief available to them to provide stability to the SPD until the final selection is made which will take some time. Putting this individual in place temporarily will not only provide stability but also needed insight regarding the problems SPD has which will be provided to the individual finally selected. It would also put Meidl on a level playing field with the other candidates.
